Review of High 5 Play Cafe
Recently we discovered a new play cafe in our area. As a mum of a crawler trying desperately to be a walker, finding a new safe place to play and explore is one of my great joys.
High 5 Play Cafe is based in the grounds of the Rugby Club off Stradbrook Road in Blackrock, Co. Dublin. We checked it out on a Saturday morning and were pleasantly surprised.
What is it?
It is a cafe with an indoor play area with a variety of toys to entertain babies and toddlers.
Where is it?
It's based in the Rugby Club on Stradbrook Road. There is loads of parking on site.
How much does it cost?
I think it was about 6 euro
What are the opening hours?
Usually 10-4 Monday to Friday and 10 - 1 on weekends.
These change depending on functions at the Rugby Club, check here for the most up to date info.
What else should I know?
There is a good selection of toys and everything we tried was working well with charged batteries.
The man working there was incredible nice and went above and beyond
They offer a loyalty programme. After 6 paid visits, your seventh is free! It's the same deal for hot drinks.
It's a circular room with tables arranged around the outside and the toys in the centre, so you can see all the other parents and all the kids from everywhere in the room.
The changing table is in the corridor outside the bathrooms, which is great for mums and dads to both access, but means hand washing might be skipped. Not ideal when parents are coming back out and touching toys..
It is based in the rugby club and the cafe counter is the bar, so beer taps etc are visible.
Hot drinks are served in not recyclable, non-compostable takeaway cups. It's a small thing, but this really annoys me.
How can I find out more?
