6 tv shows for little kids that aren't awful for grown ups

As a parent, it can be challenging to find the right TV shows for your kids. We all want our children to be entertained, but we also want them to learn and grow. At the same time, we don't want to lose our minds watching the same show over and over again. So, after countless hours of “research”, here are some great TV shows that both kids and adults can enjoy.

Here are six TV shows that we allow our kids to watch and why.

Blippi (the older seasons)

Blippi is a YouTube sensation that has taken the world by storm. With his signature orange and blue outfit, Blippi takes kids on educational adventures, exploring everything from construction sites to science experiments. The older seasons of Blippi are great for younger children, as they focus on basic concepts like colors, numbers, and shapes. And for adults, Blippi's enthusiasm and quirky sense of humor are surprisingly infectious.

We watch Blippi on YouTube kids and on Netflix.

Tractor Ted

If you have a little one who loves all things farm-related, Tractor Ted is the show for you. This British import features real-life farmers and their tractors, as well as animals like cows, pigs, and sheep. The show is educational, teaching kids about the different types of machinery and animals found on a farm. But it's also just plain fun to watch, with catchy songs and real kids.

Sesame Street

A classic that has stood the test of time, Sesame Street is still going strong after over 50 years. The show features beloved characters like Elmo, Big Bird, and Cookie Monster, and focuses on early childhood education. Kids can learn about letters, numbers, and social skills, while also being entertained by the catchy songs and skits. And for adults, it's a nostalgic trip down memory lane, reminding us of the shows we loved as kids.

Octonauts

For kids who are obsessed with the ocean, Octonauts is a must-watch. The show follows a group of underwater explorers as they go on missions to help sea creatures in need. Along the way, kids learn about different marine animals and their habitats. And for adults, the show is surprisingly informative, with accurate depictions of real-life sea creatures and their behaviors.

Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood

A spinoff of the classic Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood, Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood is a hit with preschoolers. The show features a little tiger named Daniel and his friends as they navigate everyday life. Each episode focuses on a different social-emotional lesson, like sharing or dealing with frustration. For adults, the show is a sweet reminder of the gentle, positive lessons we learned as kids. Check out my other post on life lessons from Daniel Tiger!

Bluey

Last, but by far my first choice. If you haven't heard of Bluey yet, you're missing out. This Australian show is a hit with kids and adults alike, thanks to its clever writing and relatable characters. The show follows a family of blue heeler dogs as they go about their daily lives, playing games and having adventures. The show is entertaining for kids, but it's also surprisingly edgy and funny, with jokes that will make adults laugh out loud. We’ve had more than a few grown up dinner party chats about how much we all love Bluey.
